   Rising from a very poor family Upendra tapped potentiality in the box office from 'Tharle Nan Maga'. Made on a shoe string budget starring Jaggesh this film was a box office hit. From Tharle Nanna Maga' till today's 'Aishwarya' Upendra's journey in tinsel town has many firsts to his credit. As a script writer before 'Tharle Nan Maga' he worked for dozen films.

   He is the one who gave action image to Shivarajkumar from 'Om'. Before this he made 'Sh…' that gave new lease of life for Kumar Govind as a producer cum actor. The dexterity of director Upendra slowly reached the pinnacle and he had become the apple of all eyes from ' Om' a blockbuster. Like all Upendra gave a thought to don the actor's role and his first film 'A' as actor made a business of Rs.25 crores. Then followed the three dimension film 'Upendra' with his name as the title of the film. From then Upendra consolidated the position and he had long queues in front of his house. Before acting he did Operation Antha a sequel to 'Antha' but it bombed in the box office. With the similar subject it was made as 'Indian' that looted the box office.

   The man who suffered very hard with no two squares of meals a day conquered a position of no fall down. That is true. Even today Upendra has been the winning horse despite of a few flops. Who has escaped from flops except cricketer Don Bradman?

   Upendra attitudes changed when 'H20' bombed in the box office. He married his screen heroine Priyanka in life. He is now blessed with two children and has a mansion on the ring road.

    Adds to it is the 'Ruppi's Hotel and Resort at Tavarakere spread on 18 acres of land that will be inaugurated on his birthday September 18 by Karnataka chief minister H.D.Kumaraswamy.
